Show error tooltip as soon as there is an error - flongo - 3 February 2014 15:30
This specification is about the error tooltip in TextInput-based widgets.
When the field is in error state - either a formatError, so something that depends on the framework itself (like the fact that there is no suggestion available in an autocomplete, or the usage of alphanumeric characters in a NumberField), or a validation error (due to validators added on the data model by the developer) - the correct skin is applied to the widget, but the error tooltip is not immediately shown.
The display of the tooltip now depends on the validationEvent configuration property (see for example http://www.ariatemplates.com/aria/guide/apps/apidocs/#aria.widgets.CfgBeans:TextInputCfg). This property (which has, by the way, a misleading name) can have three values
In some cases, it is desirable to show the tooltip as soon as there is an error, while the user is still typing. In order to implement this new feature, a new value could be assigned to the validationEvent property: "onError".
When validationEvent is set to "onError", the tooltip becomes immediately visible as soon as the widget is in error state (and hidden when it is not) but only when the widget has the focus.

This is what I had in mind.
